Greetings, and thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Andrew J. Willms (a.k.a. Mr. Market Commentator), and I am the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Milwaukee Company, a registered investment advisory firm located in Thiensville, Wisconsin. As such, I have primary responsibility for the management of client investments. I also have the good fortune to have an excellent team of advisors and staff who help me in this effort. You can learn more about me and my teammates here.
The objective of this blog and website is to provide information to stock and bond investors that will help them achieve their financial objectives. Investing can seem convoluted and time intensive, but it does not have to be. It is my hope that the posts I write will help clear away some of the fog that surrounds portfolio management, and give readers a clearer view of how to achieve investment success over the long term.
Unlike market prognosticators who base their investment advice on their ability to forecast the future and outsmart the market, I believe investment success is driven primarily by academically sound portfolio construction and tactical asset allocation, rather than stock picking and frequent trading. Accordingly, this blog will provide readers with information on rules-based, tactical asset allocation strategies that are founded in historical evidence, academic research, and quantitative analysis.
I also recognize that successful investing is not all about algorithms and asset allocation. Of no less (and at times, even greater) importance is the need to guard against the natural tendencies and human behaviors that can encourage irrational decisions. I will be blogging about these “cognitive biases” in hopes of lessening their negative influence on readers’ investment decisions.
Moreover, some of the most important financial decisions have little to do with investing. Examples include income-tax planning, insurance planning, maximizing the benefits associated with qualified retirement accounts, transferring wealth to future generations, charitable giving, asset protection, and the like. Accordingly, I cover these topics too.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy this blog. If you do, I ask that you please refer it to your friends, family and colleagues. If you would like to comment on any blog, or have suggestions on how I can improve this site, please contact me.
Most importantly, thank you for reading!
Mr. Market Commentator
